Both Trevor and Judy were raised on rice farms, but rice production was furthest from their minds when they inspected the block.
Farm 1650A, now named Callistemon Park Stud, came with 118 megalitres of high-security water, which was inducement enough for the couple to sign on the dotted line. It provides a guaranteed stock and domestic supply and water to flood irrigate pasture and cropping land.
There was no infrastructure in place when they bought it.
“It was a bare paddock with only a boundary fence at the front,” Judy said.
